As the Senate prepares to proceed on its Christmas and New Year recess Tuesday, an uneasy calm reigns in the upper legislative chamber over what some senators perceive as "spirited attempts by some elements within and outside the chamber to suppress or dilute" the report of the ad hoc committee that investigated government's privatisation exercise from 1999 till date.
