Kenya: Smart Card - Narok Workers Fired
About 100 Narok County council employees have been sent on a one month compulsory leave after they protested the introduction of an electronic revenue collection system at the Maasai Mara Reserve. The council at the same time threatened to lay off some of the revenue clerks at the reserve. Narok County Council chairman Joseph Nkadado said the employees have since been replaced, adding: "They have been given an unpaid leave of one month as we ponder the next cause of action against them."
